Today, in beta

What works today

The essentials for bringing your accounts together safely. It is only the start: what is not ready yet is listed below, marked coming soon.

01 / ACCOUNTS

Gmail, Microsoft 365, iCloud and IMAP

Sign in with Google or Microsoft directly, or use an app password with iCloud or any IMAP server. Passwords are tested before the account is saved, and each mailbox’s folders show up in the app.

02 / SECURITY

Credentials encrypted on the server

Passwords and access tokens are stored encrypted, each one bound to its account, and never show up in logs or URLs. You sign in to the app with your account at the happie co.

03 / API

A REST API

The app runs on the same API your integrations can use: accounts, folders and messages over HTTP, with API keys you create in the app, each one limited to the mailboxes and the access you choose.

04 / SYNC

Sync, with your consent

Turn on sync in the app and Mailie keeps an up-to-date index of your folders and of your messages’ metadata — senders, recipients, subjects, dates, flags and attachment names — starting with the last 90 days. The text of your messages and the contents of their attachments are not stored. Your integrations hear about new mail as it arrives, and turning sync off deletes the index.

05 / SEARCH

Search by subject, sender or recipient

Find messages in your synced mailboxes, in the app or through the API. Search looks only at the index kept by sync, not at the text of your messages.

06 / READING

Reading, without storing

Open any synced message, in the app or through the API, with its text and its attachments. Mailie fetches it from your mail server when you open it; it does not store the text or the attachments, and opening a message does not mark it as read.

07 / ACTIONS

Actions on your messages, with your permission

Allow actions in the app, then mark messages as read or unread, star or unstar them, archive them, and move them to another folder or to the trash, in the app or through the API. The change is made on your mail server and only when you ask; Mailie never deletes a message permanently, and you can withdraw the permission at any time.

08 / SENDING

Sending, with your confirmation

Allow sending in the app, then write, reply to and forward messages from your own mailboxes, in plain text and with attachments. Nothing goes out before you click Send, and you still have 5 seconds to cancel. Mailie does not keep the text or the attachments of what you send: Gmail and Microsoft save the copy in your Sent folder themselves, and in other mailboxes set up for it, as they are by default, Mailie saves it there.

On the way

Coming soon

What comes next. Nothing on this list is available yet.

  • Coming soon

    Webhooks

Mailie will notify your server when new mail arrives, with signed deliveries, for integrations that do not keep a connection open.

Open source

Host it yourself, or use it in the cloud.

Self-hosted

The open-source edition

The server, the CLI, a server console and the MCP server for AI assistants, over HTTP or stdio with an API key, under the Apache-2.0 license. We do not operate self-hosted installations and see none of their data; whoever runs one is responsible for it.

Cloud

Mailie in the cloud

Your API keys work on the REST API at api.mailie.thehappie.co, with the mailboxes and the access you choose. MCP for AI assistants is planned, through an attested reader in an AWS enclave.

Your data

Your email stays yours.

Mailie uses its access to your mailboxes only to do what you ask of it. The details — what we keep, where, for how long and how to revoke access — are in our Privacy Policy.

  • No advertising, no tracking, and we never sell your data.
  • Mailie never uses your email to develop, improve or train AI models, generalized or not.
  • No one at The Happie Co looks at your mailbox data, except at your explicit request, to investigate abuse or a security problem, or when the law requires it.
  • Stored in the EU (AWS, Ireland). Turn sync off and the index of your messages is deleted; remove a mailbox and it is kept for 30 days, so that it can be recovered, then deleted with its credentials and index.

Mailie’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
